Announcing an exciting new partnership.
The Alberta Assessors’ Association (AAA) and the Institute of Municipal Assessors (IMA) take first steps towards standardization of the Assessment profession across Canada.
Edmonton, Alberta: The future of assessment in Canada looks brighter than ever as the Alberta Assessors’ Association (AAA) and the Institute of Municipal Assessors (IMA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to unify the standards of practice to support the continued growth of our profession and our organizations.
The Memorandum of Understanding represents a collective vision which aligns with the goals and core values of our individual organizations and recognizes the work that both the Alberta Assessors’ Association and the Institute of Municipal Assessors have put in to support its members. The agreement presents a framework for our collaborative efforts to support property assessment practitioners by enhancing labour mobility and aligning standards of practice and professional training opportunities. Both the AAA and IMA believe this Memorandum of Understanding represents a positive step forward for assessment professionals in Canada. The agreement does not replace or alter the structure and work of either organization but enhances the standards that are already in place.
“This is a transformative agreement that marks the culmination of countless hours of hard work on the part of both organizations, and I would like to express my appreciation to every person who put their time and effort into making this a reality,” says AAA President, Scott Powell. “This agreement marks the beginning of a collaborative relationship between the IMA and the AAA which will provide benefits not afforded to our individual organizations alone. Personally, I’m very enthusiastic about the future and know that establishing partnerships with other assessment associations supports the AAAs ability to serve our members. I am also very excited about the great things which the AAA and the IMA will accomplish together to further advance the assessment profession for the betterment of the members and the public.”
“This agreement is a significant step toward expanding the collective expertise of our organizations. It is another step toward strengthening the Center for Excellence in Property Assessment that our organizations represent and provide to the assessment community,” according to IMA President, Terry Peckham. “In formalizing this special relationship between our organizations, we have committed to continue to build on our knowledge and relationship. Together, we can accomplish great things for our members, the profession, and the assessment community we serve. We look forward to the possibilities and opportunities ahead. On behalf the Institute of Municipal Assessors, I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who helped bring this agreement to life. I look forward to our evolution… Together.”
