A sponsoring Accredited Member may or may not be a supervisor, co-worker or colleague.

A sponsoring Accredited Member is expected to assist a sponsored Candidate in successfully achieving accreditation. Such assistance may take the form of advice, counsel or may be limited to periodic progress monitoring.

At minimum, a sponsoring Accredited Member shall contact the sponsored Candidate annually to check on the sponsored Candidate’s progress (ie required core and other education completions and experience) towards accreditation. In November/December, Sponsors will receive correspondence from the Registrar and Sponsor Checklist to complete and sign with sponsored Candidate(s).

Sponsorship continues regardless of changes to position, place of employment or employment status.

A sponsoring Accredited Member considering retirement shall contact sponsored Candidate to ensure the Candidate is aware of the potential status change and whether the commitment will continue.

A sponsoring Accredited Member is confirming the Applicant meets the requirements of MAR s.9 as follows:

In the event a sponsoring Accredited Member and sponsored Candidate wish to terminate the sponsorship relationship (and the Candidate chooses a new sponsor), an amended Sponsor form must be submitted to the Association.
